Boating, Fishing, and Travel Information for Delray Beach, ICWW, FL

The city of Delray Beach is located in Palm Beach County, FL. The city has a rich history that begins with the Jaega people being the first inhabitants. In 1876 the area became home to the Orange Grove House of Refuge, a shelter for ship-wrecked sailors. In the early 1900s there were many settlers from the Bahamas as well as from Japan. The economy was fueled by agriculture, particularly the growing of pineapples, and then as it gained popularity also began to have tourism as a main industry. Today, tourists and residents alike are drawn to the area by the beautiful white sandy beaches, the Delray Beach Tennis Center that hosts international championships, and its rankings as one of America’s Most Fun Small Towns and, according to Coastal Living, the 3rd Happiest Seaside Town in America.
